Fonio is an ancient African grain which originates from the Sahel region. Fonio is considered a NUCS (Neglected and Underutilized Crop Species) and is often referred to as a ‘Lost Crop’. This nutritious ‘unknown’ grain got a well-deserved spot on the ‘Future 50 Foods’ list from Knorr and WWF!

Yaka sources its Fonio from an organization in the north of Ghana, who works with over 5000 local farmers. The organization manages the complete production chain to ensure correct processing, certification and logistics. Fonio can be used as an alternative to quinoa or couscous in for example salads or as the base of a dish. Yaka offers its high quality pre -cooked fonio in sachets of 250 gram. This accounts for 5 portions per sachet.
